I just read that a rod snapped on the Bay Bridge in San Francisco (where my husband is), and this of course reminds me of the bridge collapse in Minneapolis (where I once lived). After that incident, there were all sorts of reports of the crumbling bridge infrastructure.
I haven’t seen a lot of new bridges lately, so I’m thinking we still have that problem and that it’s probably worse by now. I always hold my breath when I have to stop on a bridge. It might be better if we all invest in little canoes to cross our rivers (I will try not to think of the possible dangers in that). You can never be too safe.
