It seems to be a fear of a lot of those around me that I will run out of fears to write about. My sister said I need something more sustainable, like something I could write about 365 days of the year. I told her that is at least one thing I don’t have a fear about. I have an endless supply of things.
My husband said I can’t possibly be afraid of everything. I beg to differ. He looked up and said “are you afraid of the ceiling fan?” In all sincerity I informed him that the blades could come flying off and strike someone in the head, causing decapitation or, at the very least, a concussion. So I’d rather sweat it up than deal with head trauma. You can never be too safe.

This blog cracks me up.
Not to fuel your fears, but I do have a scary ceiling fan story….
I have a friend who was installing new floorboards in his home. He held one of the boards upright to look at it… the board was then smacked by the ceiling fan that was on, which then caused the board to whack him in the face, sending him backwards onto the floor…. he woke up a few minutes later with the board on top of him and a severe headache.
One more ceiling fan story (this is not a ridiculous fear!).
We had a neighbor girl over one day to swim in our backyard, and her and my daughter had come back inside for something. For some reason this girl had brought one of those “fun noodle” floatation devices inside the house with her, into the living room where the ceiling fan was on at high speed. The fan caught it, sending the foam flying across the room and breaking the blade off of the fan, which then started wobbling from it’s imbalance, and I am convinced that if I had not been there to see what had happened and turn of the fan immediatley, the imbalance could have caused the fan itself to loosen itself from the ceiling and come crashing down, possibly on a child or a dog. Thank goodness noone was hurt!

Funny, I just saw on the news the other day that the “Dyson” guy (you know, the guy who invented the bagless roller-ball vacuum) invented a new kind of bladeless fan – http://www.dysonairmultiplier.com/
I’m sure his company invented it and not him, whatever. Maybe they’ll come out with a ceiling fan version…

The new Dyson hand dryers were all the talk of the public restrooms yesterday…
