Ladybugs have always been one of the few creatures in the insect world of which I’ve not been afraid. That has all changed. They have now invaded the sanctity of my home, the bathroom to be specific. For some reason they have chosen to have a family reunion on the window and mirror.
Maybe they enjoy admiring their reflection, or maybe they just like me. Either way, I am “unfriending” them. The exterminator said they were actually Japanese beetles, the ugly cousin of the ladybugs. Apparently they are more yellow in color and emit a terrible stench when sqaushed. I’m glad I didn’t test that out and called in the professionals first. Even though ladybugs aren’t technically the culprit here, I’m going to have to go ahead and declare the entire insect world an imminent threat. You can never be too safe.

They also bite! That’s really how you can tell the difference. Japanese beetles are the lady bug’s alter ego in bizzaro world.
The same can be said for the Japanese Beatles and the Beatles.
