Remember as a kid when you’d be so excited about new shoes that you’d have to wear them home from the store? The salesperson would cut off the tags and you’d happily bounce out the door. The shoes were probably even Kangaroos, which just emphasized the bouncing. Nowadays I have no interest in bouncing.
I hate having to break in new shoes. It always leads to several weeks of band-aids. When I was in college I actually had a new pair of boots that I literally bled through on the first day. (This of course led to the need to skip classes for the rest of the day.) I’m going to remember this when it’s time for my kids to go away to school. When they ask for new shoes, I’m going to tell them no, I want you to go to class. You can never be too safe.
