These things are always waking me up with their incessant beeping. It’s annoying. And even after I tell it I would prefer to snooze, it just does it again nine minutes later. I wish there was a way to shut it up permanently and not lose my job or miss any flights. If only we lived in a world without time. Wouldn’t it be totally awesome if everyone did whatever they wanted whenever they wanted to do it?
I think I’d roll into work about 10 a.m. (not that I want to work, but I figure I’d still have to do that to get paid). I’d take a really long lunch and then head home around 3 p.m. That would be a full day for me.
Instead I’m forced to do things like set the alarm for 4:30 a.m. That’s early in the morning for those who have never seen that time. It makes me want to vomit to get up that early. I really shouldn’t even think about it. And it’s like Past Me doesn’t even care about Future Me. At night Past Me calculates what time Future Me needs to get up and just sets the alarm without even a stomach cramp. Future Me hates Past Me. She sucks. (Though I should point out that it was totally worth it to get up this early to see my aunt off to the airport. Past Me was hoping she would be stranded overnight in the Lou so I would get to see her, and it worked.)
If the absence of time isn’t going to work for everyone, I say we at least have Daylight Savings every day. We would get that extra hour, and everyone would be in a better mood. This could be the solution for world peace. Though maybe we shouldn’t attribute this idea to me. I’d hate to win the Nobel Peace Prize and be forced to get up early for a flight to Europe, thus canceling all my efforts. After all, you can never be too safe.
