Fear of the Day: frozen spittle

The other night I was talking on the phone while I was out walking. The temps were in the single digits, but I was powering through it. By the time I got off the phone, a layer of ice had formed on it from the condensation from my breath. That was a little disconcerting, until I noticed I couldn’t even feel my face. I reached up to feel it, and that’s when I noticed there was also a layer of ice on my chin.
Apparently I had been drooling and that had frozen as well. How does a person not realize these things are happening? First of all, how did I not notice that my face was numb? Then I did I not notice I was drooling? And that it was freezing to my face? I guess I could literally have frozen spittle covering my entire face and turn into the Indomitable Icewoman.
I’m really concerned that I would be one of those people who freeze to death and don’t do anything about it. Do I have a death wish? Up to this point I’ve felt I’ve tried to do everything possible to prevent my demise, but now I’m not so sure. I should probably hire a bodyguard to protect me from myself. You can never be too safe.
