Fear of the Day: car wash

This is probably a common fear for young children and dogs. I remember my daughter being afraid of the car wash until the age of 3. She didn’t like the noise. I would have to explain about how the car needed a bath and then sing “Rub-a-Dub-Dub” until it was clean. Those were the days. Now I have concerns about the horrific damage a car wash could cause.
Those blasters seem pretty powerful. They could very well wash something right off of the car. And it could be an important part, like the brakes. I don’t know what goes on under the car. I could keep driving even after the brakes have been removed only to discover their disappearance when I need them. And by then it would be too late. I’d careen right into the Dairy Queen. Maybe I’d at least land near a Peanut Buster Parfait that could hold me over until the ambulance arrived.
I’m also concerned about those conveyor belts some car washes use. You have to put the car in neutral and swear to not steer your car. What happens if a wild bear enters the car wash and you’d like to avoid hitting it and/or would like to escape its wrath? Will the car wash self-destruct? I don’t know, but I imagine it’s quite possible.
Maybe I’ll just stick to the squeegee washes I can do myself at any gas pump. I really only need to be able to see out of the windows anyway. You can never be too safe.
