Fear of the Day: cleaning

The scary thing about cleaning is discovering what is underneath all the clutter and dust. Clutter and dust is bad enough, but finding little surprises can be much worse. For instance, I decided to clear out some stuff from under my bed. I knew the cats liked to hang out there, but I didn’t know that gum had the same preference.
There were two hardened, chewed up pieces of gum under there. WTF? Did I mistakenly fall asleep with gum in my mouth and it dropped out and rolled under the bed? I do not ever recall having gum in bed, so this would be highly improbable. I suppose it’s more likely that the cats chewed the gum and didn’t bother to dispose of it properly. Though it did have human bite marks, so probably not.
The only other thing I can think of is that the children were chewing unauthorized gum and heard me coming. In their panic they may have tossed it under the bed to keep from being caught.
I do have to say that I never thought I’d be someone who installed a hidden camera in the bedroom, but I think this might call for it. I might catch something I really don’t want to see on tape, but I think I have to take that risk. You can never be too safe.

My suspicions fall to the cats…they also like to hide flasks of gin and cigars in your shoe closet. Why they prefer gin is beyond me.
