Fear of the Day: thread count

The number of threads in bed linens is extremely important. To some people. Not me. I have no idea what it means. All I know is that it costs more to have more thread. And I must have messed it up the first time because the seams in my sheets started coming apart about after a year. I decided to address this problem once and for all.

I was on a mission to find the highest count possible (or whatever was on sale at Target). After browsing through Egyptian blah, blah, blah, I discovered that 600-count was as big as it went. I determined that I must have this. And then I looked at the price. I was not as determined. I could buy the family’s groceries for the week or I could have a new fitted sheet (not even the whole set). And that’s when I happened upon the clearance section. I love the clearance section.

It was as if a light shined down upon these 600-count sheets and said “buy this!” So I did. They were the right size, and basically the right color. There is just one small issue. They are polka-dotted. But I kinda figured the comforter would cover it up. And no one will notice just at a glance. At least that’s what I tell myself.

My one concern now is if that tag inspector shows up. You know the one who prosecutes you if you remove the bed tags? I don’t like the bed tags and removed them a few years back. I’m prepared for another court experience. This time my fine will be three-fifty. I may as well just turn myself in now and at least save myself the anxiety of the wait until my capture. You can never be too safe.
